We recommend that you exercise caution before you voluntarily disclose personally identifiable content, information, or data to other users, on publicly accessible or displayable parts of the Application, or through third-party links on third-party websites or platforms.
2. Collection and Use of Information
a. Email Addresses.
We do not and will not send spam, or sell or rent your email address to third parties. We may send updates about Fireside in email form, but will keep communication infrequent. You can opt-out of our emails at any time. We do not disclose, sell, share, trade or give away a user’s personal information to third parties, except as needed for completing payment and billing transactions through the services of payment processing vendors.
When you sign up with Us to create an account for the Application, for engineering reasons, we require that you supply an active email address, a unique username, and a user password.
c. Payment and Billing Information From Other Sources
d. Logging Statistics
By interacting with the Application, the server automatically collects certain types of technical information. We use this information to maintain the quality and operation of Our Application and its functions and services. This information may include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, and access platform.
e. IP Addresses
Internet Protocol addresses indicate the location of a user’s computers or mobile device on a network connected to the Internet. Providing Our services to you may result in the logging of IP addresses for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. We do not log IP addresses to track your session, nor do we link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable.
Your use of the Application may result in the assignment and storage of session cookies to recognize your access privileges. A cookie is a text file that is placed on the hard disk of your computer or mobile device by a server. Session cookies expire when you end your session and close your browser interface. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer or mobile device. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
When you sign up to use the Application, you will also be asked to choose a password. You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password. You agree not to use the account, username, or password of another user at any time, or to disclose your password to any third party. You agree to notify Us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account or access to your password. You are solely responsible for any and all use of your account.
a. Data Transfer
Movement of data between a user’s device and the server is entirely wrapped within an encrypted data link. We use SSL-encrypted data streams (as does your bank’s website). This means that a clever geek sitting in a coffee shop cannot casually browse your data packets by sniffing the Wi-Fi network traffic.
b. Data Storage
Text data (“thoughts” and “remarks”) are stored in encrypted fields within an enterprise database. Image data is stored within an encrypted file system. While you are a paying member, Your data is securely stored for the duration of your active membership status. If your membership expires, or is terminated for any reason, data will be stored for 1 (one) year from the date of expiry or termination.
c. Server Access
Access to servers by Alderwood personnel is strictly controlled. Server logins will be tracked. Any server maintenance or debugging will require prior notice to a non-technical manager at Alderwood. This is a common practice at institutions that maintain sensitive information (typically financial or medical).
To prevent unauthorized access, safeguard data accuracy, and maintain the appropriate use of information, We have put in place appropriate physical, technical, and administrative procedures to protect the personal information We collect. We make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems. However, since the Internet is not 100% secure and new technology evolves and emerges, We cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party interferences from illegally obtaining or tampering with your personal information.
We encourage you to help us by also taking precautions to protect your personal data when you use the Application. Change your password often using a combination of letters, numbers, and characters, and make sure you use a secure connection and SSL-enabled browser interface.
6. Privacy of Minors
We do not promote or offer the application for use by children under the age of 18 (“minors“). Alderwood does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from minors, and We will not knowingly link to any third-party website or platform that solicits or collects personal information from minors. If you believe that a minor has disclosed personal information to Us or that We have linked to such a third-party website or platform, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
7. Safe Harbor and International Users
Connect Fireside abides by the safe harbor framework set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information collected from the European Union.
